Lichen Glade Natural Area is an example of xeric habitat, which is populated by stunted trees and grasses adapted to living in dry, rocky soil.

About This Area

Lichen Glade Natural Area is owned by the Nature Conservancy and managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Lichen Glade NA, containing a large complex of dry sandstone cliff, glade, and woodland is an example of a xeric habitat. A variety of lichens and mosses can be found on the outcrops, as well as ferns and numerous wildflowers including blue toadflax, ladies tress orchid, and rock pink.
