Driving Directions

From Nevada, take I-49/Highway 71 north 7 miles and exit at Route D. Turn east on the exit and travel to Vernon County Road 1500. Turn south and go 0.25 mile to the Marmaton River.


This is an old field and forest area offering access to the Marmaton River. There is a seasonal boat ramp and primitive camping is allowed.

About This Area

This 107 acre area has a concrete boat ramp for seasonal use on the Marmaton River. However, the river is not navigable during low-flow periods.

This area has been designated by Audubon Missouri as an Important Bird Area (IBA). IBAs are sites that have been identified by Audubon as those that are the most crucial for bird populations, due to their abundance and/or diversity of birds present. Find out more about the IBA program.
