Frisbee Cutoff Access

Driving Directions

From Frisbee, take Highway 25 south, then County Road 410 west 0.25 mile, then County Road 411 north, then County Road 407 west 1 mile. On top of the St. Francis Protection Levee, go south 0.25 mile to Frisbee Cutoff Access entrance road to the west.

About This Area

Frisbee cutoff was purchased to provide access to the original St. Francis River. After the St. Francis was channelized, the old river channel around Frisbee Cutoff was closed off from the new channelized St. Francis River. The area was allowed to revert back to native shrub habitat, and thickets for woodcock, rabbits, and Neotropical migrants.

This area is located on west side of the St. Francis mainline protection levee. During and after heavy rains, water catches in the borrow areas along the west side of the protection levee, which causes the entrance road to Frisbee Cutoff Access to become impassable.
