From West Frank Street (Route Z) in Edgerton, take North Platte Avenue/Union Mill Road north 1.50 miles.

Highlights

This area provides a variety of habitats for many fish and wildlife species. The area includes approximately 200 acres of bottomland that is seasonally flooded, providing both upland game and waterfowl habitats.

A 35-acre fishing lake and approximately one mile of the Platte River runs through the west part of the area.

About This Area

Anthony and Beatrice Kendzora Conservation Area is located north of Edgerton on the border of Platte and Buchanan counties. Visitors can reach the area from Route B or North Platte Avenue/Union Mill Road, 1.5 miles north of Edgerton.

Kendzora Conservation Area provides a variety of habitats for many fish and wildlife species. A 35-acre lake provides lake fishing opportunities. Almost one mile of the Platte River runs through the west part of the area, providing river fishing opportunities. The area includes approximately 200 acres of bottomland that is seasonally flooded, providing both upland game and waterfowl habitat. Nearly 300 acres of timber on the area provides habitat for wild turkeys, white-tailed deer, fox and gray squirrels, furbearers, and a variety of songbirds. The area also has about 190 acres of grasslands and old fields.

  • Firearms firing single projectiles larger than twenty-two (.22) caliber rimfire are prohibited.
  • Camping is not allowed on the area.  
  • Kendzora Lake is designated as “Waterfowl Refuge” and is closed to all hunting, boating, dog training, and trapping from Oct. 15 to Jan. 31.
