Driving Directions

From the I-44 and Highway 39 Junction in Mt. Vernon, take Highway 39 north 1 mile, then Highway 174 east 1.20 miles, then Lawrence 1150 north 1 mile, then Lawrence 2100 east, and Lawrence 1150 north again to the area.


This is a Designated Natural Area featuring dry-mesic sandstone and shale prairie.

  • Horseback riding is prohibited.

Bird Watching  Grassland species can be expected in summer. Get the Audubon Society of Missouri Conservation Area Bird List.  
Highlighted Activities  Very showy wildflower display in spring and early summer 
Other  Area is managed as a wildlife refuge in accordance with TNC ownership.
