In Blue Springs, take Highway 7 north of I-70 for 1.10 miles, then west 1 mile on Park Road to the area.
This area is mostly forested, but it also features established prairies, restored glades, savannas, woodlands, numerous ponds, and creeks. Facilities/features: A large nature center offering exhibits and interpretive programs, picnic areas, pavilions, six hiking trails, viewing/photo blind, and viewing decks and bridges. There is also Burr Oak Creek and scenic limestone exposures.
Nature Center Hours The Nature Center is open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The building is closed on Sunday, Monday, and all State holidays.
Area Hours open daily from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time, and 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Central Standard Time. Hours are subject to change during managed hunts.

Burr Oak Woods was purchased in 1977 and the Nature Center was built in 1982, the first nature center in the State of Missouri. The Nature Center was updated in February 2016 with new interactive exhibits. Natural features on the area include steep forested hillsides along Burr Oak Creek (the namesake of the property), large limestone boulders and outcrops, restored prairies and woodlands, and a trail complex that will guide visitors through many of the listed features.
