About This Area

Elrod Mill Access is in Andrew County, northeast of Savannah.  The Conservation Department purchased this site in 1980 to provide public access to the Platte River and other outdoor activities in northwest Missouri.

In the late 1800s, this site contained a mill, owned and operated by the Elrod family that ground flour for local residents. The grinding mill, which was located upriver near the ramp, was powered by the flowing waters of the Platte River.

This relatively small area is managed for a wide range of game and non-game wildlife species and is available to the public for a variety of outdoor activities compatible with resource management.
