Primary Habitat Association Aquatic - river/stream
Preferred Habitat Occurs in sloughs, ditches, impoundments, backwaters and pools of permanent streams with low to moderate gradients and mud or sand bottoms. tolerates turbidity and siltation, but avoids strong currents.
Distribution Occurs in the southeast lowlands, and in the Mississippi R. and its tributaries northward to the Iowa border. Has recently been collected from the Spring river system in southwest Missouri *001*.
