Preferred Habitat Spawns on gravel bars in large, free-flowing rivers. During rest of the year, inhabits reservoirs or quiet pools of permanent streams with little or no current and abundant zooplankton. In Pennsylvania, stocked juveniles strongly selected tailwaters and sexually mature individuals frequently selected tailwaters during spring spawning, but no in the fall. Distribution Occur mainly in the Missouri and Mississippi rivers and in Lake of the Ozarks and Table Rock Lake. Previously spawned in Osage R. between Warsaw and osceola. Since the construction of truman dam, populations have been maintained by stocking. *001*
